Our three literacy groups have now completed their progressive story and all of the stories have been put onto a Voicethread.
This is the plan of what we needed to do as our part of the Progressive Story project.
- Read the story so far and continue the plot by writing the next part of the story
- Use Tuxpaint to draw three pictures about our part of the story
- Record our part of the story and add to Voicethread
- Bonus activity was that we then skyped a class in Warrigul that was also a part of the Progressive Story project. We needed to think about our story and explain the parts that we liked the most and try and give reasons. This was very exciting for two of our groups. The third group will skype in the coming weeks.
Below are our Voicethread stories.
Story 12: We created the second part of the story
Story 16: We created the introduction to the story
Story 23: We created the second part of the story.
Yesterday we had the launch of our MacBooks to every member of the Senior Area. We had a really exciting day. Bootcamp gave us time to learn about our MacBooks and how to personalise and trouble shoot them.
Today we thought carefully about all of the words that came to mind when we thought of our launch. We wrote these words into Etherpad so that all the words that we’d thought of were together. We then created a Wordle of these words. The best thing about Wordle is that the more times a word is mentioned, the bigger the words become in our picture.
We hope that you like our Wordle.
Our class will be visiting the Caritas Australia Online Advent calendar each day during Advent.

We will add our comments and the special thoughts, feelings and actions that we engage in during Advent to this Voice Thread. We would love it if you added your comments as well. You will need to set up a free Voice Thread account in order to comment but this is quick and easy to do.
Use Elf Yourself to spark up your Collaborative Christmas story!
This is the task:
- Discussion: Why do we have clubs? Why do we join clubs?… based on what you like, interests, what you’re good at, make new friends, follow current friends etc…
- Ask students to use their imagination to write on pieces of paper all the clubs they’d love to join… even clubs that may never have been invented eg:gardening club, space club, chess club, reading club, Hannah Montana club…
- Assign students to ‘random’ groups of three.
- Explain what a three way venn diagram is and show students how they will sort their club ‘papers’ into their group’s venn diagram. The sorting process will provide students with visual information about 3 – 2 – 1 way commonalities.
- Each group is to draw a 3 way venn diagram onto butchers paper and sort their pieces of paper.
- Questions to ask: Does your group have one club that you’re all happy to join? If not, are there two members who have common likes/interests?
- Each group decides on a club that they’re joining.
- Each group shares and explains their club to the rest of the class using the venn diagram to show how they came to that decision.
!!!
Collaborative writing task:
Your ‘club’ is having its yearly Christmas party. Write a collaborative story about your club’s Christmas Party.
Use a story map on Webspiration to plan and order your group’s ideas.
The illustration to go with your story is the ‘Elf Yourself‘ dance.
Guidelines for a collaborative story
- What will your group look and sound like?
- What will your story map look like?
- What are the elements needed for your story to be interesting and entertaining?
Post your story on our class wiki!
